HURRICANE FAULT, UT: Appraisal, after Assessment of Influence of Asteroid Strikes and Tidal Movements

SUMMARY :
Hf is a young fault- forming a scarp on the Colorado Plateau in the last few million years, as noted by its terraces. During the last 600, 000 years, it accompanied basalt vents. It is older than Mt. Trumbull, near the Grand Canyon; it marks the transition on its south trace to a buffer to the Basin and Range, but north of the Pine Valley mountains it adjoins the B&R. Hf was sliced by lateral faulting at the Laverkin graben and the arcuate canyons near the AZ border- creating a 26 km Grass Valley CW cell along the Virgin, Horse Valley and Fort Pierce tributaries, which straddles Hf. GV cell seems to be driven by a CCW rotation about the adjoining upward-spiraling Zion cell.

ABOVE PHOTO REVEALS FACTS ABOUT THE HURRICANE FAULT, AND HOW IT IS DIFFERENT NEAR THE TOWN OF HURRICANE- WHICH HAS SEVERAL VOLCANIC CONES AND A LATERAL FAULT ALONG THE VIRGIN (ONLY REVEALED BY SLICKENSIDES AND SHEARED SLABS, SINCE IT EXISTS MAINLY AT THE BASE OF THE RIVER AND ALONG OBVIOUS FRACTURES OF SMALL DISPLACEMENT EACH). THE SPIRAL FOR CEDAR BREAKS IS OLDER THAN THE ONE AT ZION, BUT ITS OUTLINE CAN BE SEEN (EVEN THOUGH IT IS OF A 6 M.Y. OR MORE AGE). IT IS SHOWN SPIRALING CORRECTLY ABOVE, BUT BELOW I HASTILY PLACED IT IN A REVERSE (WRONG- UPWARD MOVEMENT BY CORIOLIS ROTATION IS ALWAYS CCW) DIRECTION. THE INCIPIENCE IS WITH THE OLDEST EXTRUSIONS- NEAR THE SEVIER FAULT. I, FOR NOW, ASSUME THAT THIS PLACES IT AS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE 41 M.Y. ASTEROID- THIS WILL BE NEAR, IN TIME, THE INCIPIENCE OF CP ITSELF (WHICH STARTED WITH THE RIO GRANDE VULCANISM, NEAR 41 M.Y.)
HURRICANE FAULT, UT: Appraisal, after Assessment of Influence of Asteroid Strikes and Tidal Movements
Previously, I have assessed the movements of Hf from the standpoint of gross behavior- finding that it is influenced mainly by the rotation of the Colorado Plateau, CP. Now I will delve further into the details of its less-investigated behavior, viewing its local movements and reaction to the later-found antipodes of the asteroid strikes in the Indian Ocean for Zion and Cedar Breaks uplifts (3G).
This will be woven into the total analysis which incorporates:
A. Earth Tides- moving Hf westerly with time;
B. Uplift of the Colorado Plateau, CP;
C. Vulcanism which accompanies the lateral and vertical movements; and,
D. Regional events, such as the rotation and lateral faulting of the Basin And Range, B&R, and the great faults on the western edge and in the Transition Zone on the west side of CP.

Incorporation of RECENTLY-FOUND DYNAMICS
An example is shown below, where a simple feature- such as the Laverkin Hogback- may be simple when photographed or viewed from the top of the Radio Tower cone in Hurricane, UT, but when it is viewed from Google Earth it becomes a drastically-complicated structure. This is the case for ENTITIES which are bordering Hf, Grass Valley rotation, and the Zion spiral:

We had already found that some recent movement had transpired at the base of the hogback, since there are fissures opening at the base and southeastern sides (which are not filled by erosion- even though they occur in loose soil). Note from the photo below, that fissures trace N-S, making abrupt orthogonal turns to the west, do not fill with monsoon rains (the preceding photo indicates that the orientation is at least 10 degrees off N -S):
When I made enlargements of parts of Hf, I found that it was not a simple uplift either. It portrayed a rotation whenever there was a canyon exiting the CP, and that every stratigraphic change- such as basalt termination at Paleozoic limestone- exhibited inflections in the scarp or a change in elevation, dip, or orientation. All this maintains that shear stress and linear strain (thrusting or normal faulting) result from rotation, linear shoving, or upward movement of the CRUST. These are related to events created by EARTH TIDES, ASTEROID STRIKES, WRENCHING OF DOMES AND UPLIFTS, OR CORIOLIS ROTATIONS acccompanying THESE MOVEMENTS:

BELOW ARE PHOTOS OF GRASS VALLEY AND IVINS KNOLLS- WHICH ARE THE OLDEST VULCANIC CONES FOUND NEAR Hf IN THE SHEAR CIRCLE MOVING ALONG THE WATERWAYS OF THE FORT PIERCE, HORSE VALLEY, AND VIRGIN LATERAL FAULTING: NOTE THAT THESE VENTS ALIGN N-S, SIMILARLY TO Hf, AND APPEAR TO BE EXTENSIONS OF BASALT EXTRUSIONS FURTHER SOUTH IN AZ. THIS IS A CLUE TO THE INCIPIENCE OF Hf- WHERE THE FAULTING IS KNOWN TO BE OLDER THAN MT. TRUMBULL (MIOCENE EXTRUSION), FOR THE SOUTHERN PART. IVINS IS SHOWN BELOW:

Terraces created by periodic movements of Hf
North of the town of Virgin, there is a basalt mesa of 1 m.y. age, which hovers high above the valley and town. Between this early flow and the river, there are 5 terraces in regular order- descending the south slope of the mesa. This is shown below, to show that periodic jolts (earthquakes or wobbles of the earth) cause slumping or sliding:

Additionally, there are 5 terraces shown on the monocline at the AZ border, just outside the Grass Valley rotation inside the arcuate rotation, shown in a canyon (which rotates CW). This indicates that there were 5 impulses which accelerated the movements ALREADY in place, and that they likely acccompanied earthquakes- caused by minor wobbles of the poles, extension at MAR with lateral shear, or from asteroid strikes. The regularity would eliminate everything but the .2 m.y. magnetic pole re-orientation, which is not resolved, but which opens the crust with regularity and emits extrusions on a cyclical basis.
BELOW ARE SHOWN THE CYCLICAL EFFECTS OF SLUMPING AND FAULTING NEAR THE SOUTHERN END OF THE GRASS VALLEY CW ROTATION:
THE GOOGLE EARTH MAY BE USED TO MEASURE THE WIDTH OF THE TERRACES, BOTH ABOVE THE TOWN AND AT THE AZ BORDER: THE AZ BORDER MONOCLINE MAY BE MEASURED FOR CYCLICITY OF TERRACES, VIA THE GOOGLE EARTH DISTANCE TOOL:

The value of this 200,000 year cyclicity is for determination of the age of various movements along Hf; above the town of Hurricane there are shown 3 terraces, which are lower and younger than the high cliffs of Hf to the north and south, and this indicates that the transit of Hf above the town of Laverkin is younger than the million year lava flows of Virgin town and Grass Valley. Should the known age of 1 m.y. at both Ivins and Virgin town basalts be divided in five parts, the average age of the separation of the impulses which created the slides and faulting would be 200 k.years. For the case of the terraces above Hurricane, the implied age would be less than 4 cycles or about .6 m.y, as shown in the following photo. THIS INDICATES THAT THE LATEST UPLIFT SURGES ARE YOUNGER THAN 600,000 YEARS- THE LAST UPLIFT BEING ACCOMPANIED BY NUMEROUS VOLCANOES:

WE NOW HAVE SEVERAL AGES OF MOVEMENTS, WHICH CAN BE USED TO EVALUATE THE INCIPIENCE AND DEVELOPMENT OF Hf

1. First there is the creation of the Cedar Breaks and the uplifts to the east. This is shown in a spiral, which is older than Cedar Breaks, and which is initiated at the Tertiary extrusions, shown as Tov. This has been radioactivity-dated for the Mammoth Creek-Panguich area as 28 m.y. breccias with 2 circular arrangements of vents- 6 m.y?
2. The oldest vulcanism associated with the Zion uplift is about 1-2 m.y., and this fits with the extrusions of basalts near the Grass valley and Crater Hill cones;

3. Extrusions near the Virgin River- Radio Tower and older Red Ash vents- fit with the conclusion that the Zion uplift and associated reverse rotation of Grass Valley (CW) has created these with the FRICTIONAL HEAT OF ROTATION ALONG THE VIRGIN RIVER. There is still heat at Pah Tempe hot springs so that motion still occurs at this lateral fault dividing Zion from Horse Valley, Grass Valley and the rotation around the feature all the way to the Fort Pierce wash.

4. Mount Trumbull lies near Hf, some 5 miles to the east. This fits with the finding that Hf has been moving westward- as shown in the photo of the terraces at Hurricane town. Protrusions move westward, on the order of 1 mm/yr, under the impetus of EARTH TIDES- which occurs due to the CRUST MOVING SLOWER HAN THE MANTLE- due to its farther distance from the Moon (20 m.y. results in a 20 km westward shift for 1 mm/yr rate): MT. TRUMBULL HAS ONE REPORTED MIOCENE AGE OF 5.76 M/Y. (WHICH IS AT THE M-PLIOCENE BOUNDARY). USING THE MEASURED DISPLACEMENT WESTWARD, AT 1 KM, AND USING .2 MM/YR FOR EARTH TIDES, WE HAVE A CALCULATED AGE OF THE RISE OF MT. TRUMBULL OF ABOUT 5 M.Y:

THE REGIONAL VIEW OF MT. TRUMBULL AND LATER EXTRUSIONS IS SHOWN BELOW, AND ONE CAN NOW SEE THAT IT IS OLD ENOUGH TO DEVELOP REJUVENATION CONES AROUND ITS PERIPHERY (THESE FORM AFTER THE INITIAL MAGMA HAS COOLED AND SHRUNK- ROTATING CW AND CREATING HEAT OF FRICTION WITH NEIGHBORING BRITTLE ROCKS. THERE ARE SEVERAL CONES OF QUATERNARY AGE IN THE PICTURE:

PERIPHERAL INPUT MAY BE FOUND, BY ANALYZING THE SEQUENCE OF SPIRALS FROM CEDAR BREAKS TO ZION, FOR THE INFLUENCE Hf HAS CREATED ON THESE TERTIARY to QUATERNARY MOVEMENTS; THE REVERSE CASE MUST BE CONSIDERED: Hf MAY HAVE BEEN ACCELERATED BY THE ASTEROID STRIKES CAUSING THE UPLIFTS. BUT Hf CONTINUES UNTIL THE GRAND CANYON, SO THAT Hf WAS NOT CREATED BY THESE YOUNG STRIKES (MERELY ACCELERATING WHAT WAS ALREADY "IN THE WORKS"). LOOK AT THESE SPIRALS IN A NEW ORIENTATION- DIAGONALLY- SO THAT THE MAXIMUM MAGNIFICATION MAY BE USED. WE NOW SEE THAT THERE ARE BUFFERS, OR INTERMEDIATE ROTATIONS (LABELLED REACTIONARY CELLS- RC) IN THE REGION BETWEEN THE TWO SPIRALS: BELOW I PARK SOME RECENT PHOTOS, FROM THE EAST SIDE OF Hf, WHICH I WILL COMMENT ON LATER; CRATER HILL, ABOVE AND BELOW, IS NEAR THE INITIATION OF THE RISE OF ZION, AS INDICATED BY DATES OF LAVA FLOWS IN THIS NEAR-CENTER OF THE ZION SPIRAL:
AND HERE ARE SOME PIX SHOWING HOW TWO WATERWAYS OCCUR AT A GEOLOGICAL ANOMALY (TWO CIRCLES OF ROTATION, IN HARMONY- ONE ROTATING CW AND THE OTHER CCW):

When did the last cycle, or better, when did Hf start? We’ll start with the first recognition of it north of Cedar City shown on Google Earth:

THE SEPARATION OF THE PINE VALLEY MOUNTAINS, PVM, ON THE EAST SIDE, IS A TESTAMENT OF THE WESTWARD SHOVE OF PVM, BY EARTH TIDES. THIS DOES NOT OCCUR ON THE WEST SIDE; RATHER THERE ARE COMPRSSIONAL REATURES, SUCH AS YOUNG CONES, HOT SPRINGS AND COMPRESSION UP TO THE SANTA CLARA RIVER. NOTE THE BREAK-OFF OF MONZONITE HILLS NEAR THE FREEWAY I-15: THERE IS MORE INFORMATION SHOWN IN THE PHOTO. I WILL ADD THIS FEATURE OF THE GRADUAL SLOPE TO THE EAST WITH TIME, OF THE TERRACES ON THIS SE EDGE OF PVM, TO OTHER ANALYSES OF PVM AND THE LATERAL FAULT AT I-15 FREEWAY. THIS AUGMENTS WHAT I FOUND AT THE BASE OF A 1 M.Y. BASALT FLOW ABOVE THE TOWN OF VIRGIN; THERE WERE PVM MONZONITE BOULDERS IMMEDIATELY BELOW THE BASALT- INDICATING THAT THE EROSION PRODUCTS OF PVM PROCEEDED TO THE SE (CROSSING THE N-S LINE WHICH IS NOW Hf). THIS WOULD OCCUR ONLY IF THE PRESENT VIRGIN TOWN WAS LOWER IN ELEVATION THAN THE TERRACES TO THE NORTHWEST (DISPLAYING NO Hf SCARP AT THE TIME- WHICH WAS LATER THAN THE UPLIFT OF PVM AT 22 M.Y).
The Markagunt Plateau, with late tertiary volcanics, Tv, appears to be the arcuate feature which separates Hf from multi-faulting of the Wasatch Line further north. It arbitrarily will be used as the north boundary of Hf, until we can find a more appropriate NATURAL initiation of the uplift producing Hf.
NOW WE MUST "pin down" THE SOUTH TERMINATION OF Hf, AND THIS IS SHOWN WITH UNCERTAINTY AT MT. TRUMBULL EXTRUSION. NEVERTHELESS, MT. TRUMBULL ROTATES THE TRACE OF Hf ON ITS SOUTH SIDE. THIS, DESPITE THE EVIDENCE THAT Hf CUTS THE LAVA FLOW ON THE NORTH SIDE. WE KNOW THAT Hf, ACCCOMPANYING CP, CONSTANTLY MOVES LATERALLY AS WELL AS VERTICALLY- SO LONG AS THE CP RISES (CUTTING A NEW PATH WEST OF THE OLD TRACE)- AND THIS INFERS THAT THE INITIATION OF Hf IS OLDER THAN MT. TRUMBULL. WE MERELY HAVE TO FIND THE RADIO-DATED AGE OF MT. T, AND WE WILL HAVE THE LOWER LIMIT OF THE AGE OF Hf IN THIS LOCALITY:
ONE REPORT OF THE AGE OF MT. TRUMBULL IS AT 5.76 M.Y. WHICH WOULD BE AT THE M-PLIOCENE BOUNDARY. FINALLY, AT THE COLORADO RIVER, WHERE UNCERTAINTY IS MAXIMUM, THERE IS AN INDICATION THAT THE RIVER HAS BEEN DIVERTED (MINOR ASTEROID STRIKE?) TO THE SW, AND A ROTATION OCCURS- WHICH DISPLAYS A CENTERLINE, PROBABLY A THRUST:
AN EXPANSION OF THE COLORADO RIVER CANYON INDICATES THAT THERE HAS BEEN A MINOR ASTEROID STRIKE (NOT COUNTING THE 41, 28, AND 18 M.Y. EVENTS); I WILL HAVE TO SEARCH AND PLACE THIS IN THE ASTEROID AND ANTIPODES BLOG LATER:
ANALYSIS MADE OF THE SLICING, ROTATION, AND DISPLACEMENT OF Hf AT THE COLORADO RIVER:
SO FAR, THE RIVER CUTS ALONG A PATH DETERMINED BY SEVERAL ASTEROID STRIKES- 41, 28, AND 18 M.Y. EVENTS. NOW WE SEE THAT THERE IS A POSSIBILBITY THAT THE ICE AGE STRIKE (ELTANIN 2.15 M.Y?) HAS CREATED A MINOR DEFLECTION OF THE RIVER PATH. THIS IS INDICATED BY THE VOLCANIC EXTRUSIONS NEARBY- TENTATIVELY RELATED TO REJUVENATION CONES, ASSOCIATED WITH MT. TRUMBULL. WE WILL FOLLOW UP ON THIS, SINCE IT IS KNOWN FROM THE DATED FLOWS INTO THE GRAND CANYON, THAT THESE HAVE DROPPED INTO THE CHASM WITHIN THE QUATERNARY.

ONE PROOF OF CRUST-ONLY SHEAR, RIFTING, AND ROTATING, AND NOT MANTLE OR CORE CONJECTURE, IS SHOWN BELOW FOR THE INDIAN OCEAN. THE STRIKING PRESERVATION OF TRANSFORMS, THEIR DIVERSION BY THE KT STRIKE ANTIPODE, AND THE SHARPNESS OF IT ALL AFTER 65 M.Y. ASSERTS THAT THE DRAG OF THE INDIAN SUB-CONTINENT OVER THE ANTIPODE (WHILE EXTRUDING MASSIVE FLOOD BASALTS FROM THE CRUST, AND NOT FROM THE MANTLE) HAS LEFT DEFINITE EVIDENCE THAT THE MANTLE WAS NOT INVOLVED. OTHERWISE, THE TRANSFORMS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SO WELL PRESERVED ON THE OCEAN BOTTOM:

How does Hf relate to the larger and older feature, CP?
Some insight may be found from a study of the rotation of the Colorado Plateau, CP. We have good evidence from the progression of basaltic volcanoes and from elevation data that CP not only rotates CCW, as it spirals upward, but it still generates HEAT FROM BRITTLE FRICTION AND RADIOACTIVE DECAY.

We have two major entities which relate to the formation of large regional faulting and to the placement of the plateau itself; they are:
1. The Rocky Mountains form a CCW (rising) range of protrusions which drag the CP northward on its east side;
2. The Equatorial Bulge, which has a northern border of about 40n latitude, has a slower rate of western movement, relative to the higher latitudes (Snake River plain and the Yellowstone extrusion trend- moving relatively eastward). This makes the northern border of CP move relatively westward;
and,
3. Together, these two movements create a circulation of the Crust in a CCW pattern on the north and east side of CP.
Before we reach conclusions about CP forming in response to these 2 movements, look at the antipode to the high elevation mountains in Colorado state:

VIEWING THE ANTIPODE TO CP, FOR A POSSIBLE REACTION TO AN ASTEROID STRIKE, SEARCH BELOW:

Notice for the Indian Ocean, at 38S 73E longitude, that there are many indications that the PTr event created NE-SW transforms, the KT event created N-S linears, and that there is no definite information indicating that the 41 m.y. strike left an imprint. I expected that CP began to rise significantly at the 41 m.y. date because that is the time of the early vulcanism in the Rio Grande valley west of Taos, NM (Llano Quemado, or burnt plain). Also, the latest Tertiary deposition- other than extrusion- was in the Eocene. The Cimarron Mountains rose in the Oligocene, depositing the Poison canyon formation, and this was after the Rockies had risen. Altogether, there is no large feature in the Indian Ocean of an age and extent, indicating that an asteroid created the CP uplift.
Now look at CP from the standpoint that the east and north sides were dragged, resulting in a CCW rotation, and that the south and west sides were formed later.

Then look at my analysis of the CP, as it is presumed to move under the influence of tidal west drag at the 40N boundary and northern drag by the Rocky Mountains:

This analysis finds that CP was formed much later than the KT strike of 65 m.y. and more likely related to the 41 m.y. asteroid accelerating the strain created by KT after the Eocene (by the CCW rotation of the Rocky Mountains). Colorado Plateau rotation calculations
Should the assessment of the impetus for the rotation of CP be correct (due to west shove of the north boundary and north drag by the Rocky Mountain chain on the east side), then we can now calculate the rate of movement on the north side. The distance traversed since the significant rise of the Rockies (sufficient to drag the crust immediately to the west) and the shove of the Equatorial Bulge, EB, can now be estimated with enough accuracy for my purposes. Should the movement have commenced as soon as the Rockies had a significant height- which is from the KT event- then the rate is as follows:
Rate = displacement of the EB at Mendocino/time of initiation.

Rate= 134 km/KT- 134/ 65 m.y.= 2 mm/year, for immediate rise;

Rate= 134 km/EO= 134/33 m.y.= 3 mm/year, for time of subsidence of the Eocene basins.

This rate of 2-3 mm/year is considerably larger than that I have measured on slickensides at the Hurricane fault, Hf.
At the town of Laverkin, slickensides have striations on a diagonal of about 30 degrees, so that the lateral vector is ½ that of the vertical displacement. The average movement of Hf has been calculated for Hf by UGS, as near .2 mm/year, This yields 1/10 mm/year for the vertical component. However, I determined that there are surges of the rate, caused by pulses of Hf noticed at terraces. This makes the movement rate somewhat suspect for intervals where the movement is considerably faster. Overall, the implications must be moderated by this new calculation on the north side of CP. The obvious implications are:
A. The drag of CP by the Rocky Mountains starts in San Luis valley, where vent dates have been measured near 41 m.y. This indicates that while the rotation of CP is CCW, the tear or “rip” of the crust proceeds in the opposite direction- producing basalt cones spiraling to the west (as is the actual case- from the Rio Grande to White Mountains, to San Francisco peaks, to Williams to Mt. Trumbull, and finally to the St. George, UT area);

B. The south side, being merely dragged along by the impetus on the east side of CP, lags the maximum movement rate on the east and north side. This results in a progression of faults on the west side of CP- becoming younger as the Plateau rose;
C. As the CP rises and expands, its rate of rotation should decrease. The “slug” of Crust becomes more massive, and it encounters interferences- such as asteroid strikes, which accelerate local strains, while lagging at extrusion sites; and,
D. volcanic fields become smaller, as the rate of movement decreases- such as noticed comparing White mountains to San Francisco peaks, to Mt. Trumbull, to the youngest near St. George.

SUMMARY:
COLORADO PLATEAU ROTATES CCW, AT THE INTERSECTION OF EQUATORIAL BULGE AND THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS

DIAGRAM ABOVE- WHILE STILL INCOMPLETE- IS A VISUAL SUMMARY OF THE IMPORTANT FINDINGS FOUND FROM GOOGLE EARTH. STILL NOT UNDERSTOOD IS THE DOUBLE SPIRAL AT SAND HOLLOW AND MOUNTAIN (WHICH IS WITHIN THE GRASS VALEY ROTATION, BUT FORMED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE RIGHT-ANGLE TURN OF THE VIRGIN RIVER AT THE WASHINGTON DAM.
BELOW IS THE SORT OF ANALYSIS AND PREPARATION YOU CAN MAKE FOR AN UNKNOWN AREA, SUCH AS GEOLOGICAL EXPLORATION ABOUT THE GRAND CANYON. USING SIMPLE RULES- SUCH AS RISING AREAS ROTATE CCW, WHILE SINKING AREAS MOVE CW (FROM ELEVATIONS YOU CAN MEASURE ON GOOGLE EARTH), ONE CAN DETECT THRUSTING AND THE DIRECTION OF MOVEMENT ABOUT A LATERAL FAULT. IT BECOMES SIMPLE TO HIKE TO THE AREA OF THE ANOMALY, TO CONFIRM THE STRUCTURAL GEOLOGY OF THE LOCAL AREA. THIS IS FOR THE INTERSECTION OF Hf AND THE LATERAL FAULTING TRANSPIRING AT THE GRAND CANYON- COLORADO RIVER-BORDERING ROCKS, WHERE HEAT WILL PRODUCE MINERALS (WHOSE SOLUBILITIES ARE CHANGING WITH TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE)

FINDING THE CYCLES ASSOCIATED WITH VULCANISM, SPIRALING, AND NON-ASTEROID STRIKES
We already have a spiral case- that of the Zion NP, spiraling from Crater Hill vulcanism to the main part of the Park ,and then on to Laverkin Creek, to the slickensides and graben at Hiway 9 east of Laverkin town. This is shown below, for the most-readily seen canyons and graben:

Notice that the spiral at Laverkin has a measured cycle (among more CYCLES to the NE) of .33 km. This can be translated to cyclicity, by using the measured “rip” of the Zion spiral at the circulation around Crater Hill (which is roughly at the center of the 1-2 m.y. AGE FEATURE. This rip or tear is not the spiral horizontal rate- which is near 1 mm/year- but it is the upward spiral of the entire cell created by an asteroid strike on the OPPOSITE SIDE, ANTIPODE, of the EARTH. We will search the literature to find if there is a cycle of the Moon in the Solar system (other than the daily, semi-monthly wobble about the earth, and the monthly orbit about the earth):
BELOW IS A DIAGRAM OF THE CYCLES WE SEEK, AND WE WILL EXPLORE THE LITERATURE FOR CYCLICITY- IN TERMS OF YEARS FOR MINOR CYCLES (E.G. WOBBLE DUE TO THE ANGLE TO THE ECLIPTIC FOR MOON AND EARTH: 5 VS. 23.5 DEGREES):
THERE IS A KNOWN CYCLE OF THE PRECESSION OF THE EQUINOXES: 25,800 YEARS. I WILL EXPLORE THE HARMONICS OF THIS, IN RELATION TO THE CALCULATED PERIOD OF 1650 YEARS (16 TO 1, FOR THIS CASE, AND THE CYCLICITY OF THE MAR SPREADING IS ABOUT .2 M.Y.- 8X AS LENGTHY):

Finding the “essence” of GEOLOGICAL UNDERSTANDING involves getting to the “right” TERMINOLOGY. PhD Ben states with great confidence that all anomalies found in the Hurricane Valley can be SUMMED UP with ONE WORD:

Key Word

Those who point with greatest PRIDE
Are almost certain to deride
Efforts to shunt them to one side
Of Hiding behind the Mighty Laramide

(However, some structures- such as the Laverkin Hogback- are not “Laramide” at all! The feature on the west side of the Laverkin Creek is Quaternary and is still active and moving- developing fissures and rotations)
THIS 3G ANALYSIS WILL CONTINUE, AS I GET MORE FIELD AND GOOGLE EARTH INFORMATION. ALL THIS IS SUPERIOR TO CONVENTIONAL GEOLOGY, AS IT ALLOWS AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE INCIPIENCE OF FEATURES LONG-KNOWN TO GEOLOGISTS, BUT WHICH WERE THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN DERIVED FROM DEEP IN THE EARTH. NOT SO! WE'RE DEALING ONLY WITH THE CRUST (WITH POSSIBLE DRAG OF DEEP CRUST BY THE MANTLE). THERE ARE NO MANTLE PLUMES OR CORE-DERIVED FEATURES FOUND OR HINTED IN MY ANALYSES, BUT MERELY THE INTERACTION OF CRUST, EARTH TIDES, AND ASTEROIDS CREATING MOVEMENT (WHICH CORIOLIS FORCES SENSE AND WHICH CREATE ROTATIONS ABOUT THE LINEAR THRUSTS OR UPLIFT-SINKING FEATURES).
NOTE HOW TRANSFORMS OF 65 M.Y. AGE ARE PRESERVED IN THE INDIAN OCEAN; THIS WOULD NOT OCCUR IF THE MANTLE SURGED UPWARD AND PRODUCED THE FLOOD BASALTS! THE LINEARS ARE SO WELL-PRESERVED, THAT IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE INDIAN SUB-CONTINENT MERELY SLID OVER THIS PORTION OF THE CRUST TO PRODUCE THE PRESERVED TROUGHS AND RIDGES AT THE OCEAN BOTTOM (BELCHING ITS LOWER CRUST BASALTS ONTO THE SURFACE AS A REACTION TO THE KT STRIKE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE GLOBE)!

BELOW IS AN EXERCISE YOU CAN "TEST" FROM PUBLISHED MAPS OF THE AREA (I DIDN'T CHECK IT), AND CAN BE DUPLICATED FOR ANY OTHER ANOMALOUS GEOLOGICAL FEATURE. THIS PERTAINS TO THE VIRGIN RIVER- WHERE IT FOLLOWS AN ARCUATE EROSIONAL PATH, WORN FROM LATERAL FAULTING- AND TO THE UPLIFT ON ITS NORTH SIDE, REACTING TO THE DRAG, CW, OF THE 26 KM DIAMETER CELL ROTATING ALONG THE RIVER:

Tracing the Hf scarp from Google Earth: Ash to Colorado River
There is quite a lot of information obtained by showing the details of Hf. Irregularities in the fault scarp and fault itself show anomalies in the movements and shearing transpiring along the trace. These include:
a. canyons, which usually have slickensides and rotations from the shear which produced the weaknesses in the uplifted western edge of the fault;
b. Blocks of CRUST, which have been rotated or vertically moved;
c. Intersections of significant movements of the crust- where the CCW rotation of the CP is at “odds” with other strains; and.
d. Unusual uplift (rise) or depressions (sinking) of the border zone of the CP, which is transitioning from highlands to either Basin and Range, B&R, or to the buffer between B&R and CP (TRANSITION ZONE).
Below is shown Hf, with as much detail as is possible to delineate, using Google Earth. Some errors occur, since the interpretation of the fault and scarp is subjective, and the tracing tool wanders off the intended path:

Notice that the fault and scarp are obscured at major inflections- such as the Laverkin graben and sink, and at Mount Trumbull.
A detailed analysis of the fault scarp and associated volcanic flows shows SOME HISTORY OF Hf MOVEMENTS:
A PORTION OF Hf IS SHOWN BELOW,FROM
ASH CREEK TO THE AZ BORDER, TO ALLOW INSPECTION OF THE BASALT SPILL (OVER THE RIM):

Notice that the divide (a true elevation and drainage divide) has an old flow above Hf, and that a younger basalt flow has flowed over the scarp, has later slumped over the rim, and has finally separated from the original basalt flow. The Divide flow is one of the older extrusions- which occurred before significant uplift- and has an associated later flow that has been extruded from the edge. This strongly indicates that the million year plus extrusion cooled, rotated, and created HEAT OF BRITTLE FRICTION to produce the later rejuvenation cone.

THIS SHOULD PROVIDE A MORE SECURE BASE FOR THE METAMORPHIC PETROLOGISTS, RATHER THAN USING SPECULATION ABOUT CORE AND MANTLE HEATING AND COMPRESSION- WHICH CANNOT BE PROVEN. THE ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE IS THAT THERE IS THE GREATEST SUICIDE RATE AMONG METAMORPHIC PETROLOGISTS OF ALL EARTH SCIENCE WORKERS, AND THE STRUCTURAL GEOLOGISTS HAVE NOT SUPPLIED A BASE FOR BETTER UNDERSTANDING!
