My MODEL shows the COMPLETE PICTURE! There is always a PORTION MISSING- in this case, the "REST OF THE STORY". This diagram was drawn before I had discovered that the ANALEMMA is a MAJOR DRIVER of DYNAMIC MOVEMENTS of the EARTH! The SHALLOW CRUST is being shoved LATERALLY DAILY- creating THRUST FAULTING, GRABENS, RISES and SINKS!
Below is the start to UNRAVEL the SEQUENCE FORMING the TORTUOUS PATH of the Colorado River, from Lake Powell to its EMERGENCE in the Basin and Range country:
Although the NAVAJO UPLIFT (DOME) AGE is not too accurate (near 1 m.y., subject to UNEVEN EROSION and DRAINAGE), it reveals ANALEMMA CONFIRMATION of the RAGGED SE portion- compared to the REGULAR EROSION of the NW 20.48 mm/year AXIAL ROTATION. This is the NORMAL ARRANGEMENT- think IRREGULAR BASIN and RANGE, COMPARED to the FLAT-AND-LEVEL COLORADO PLATEAU STRATA (layers). We start with the above SIMPLEST YOUNGER UPLIFT, which is easily seen on GOOGLE EARTH, and which is a DOME WITHIN A SINK. Next we progress to a wider view, allowing the Navajo dome to guide us to an OLDER-WIDER GYRATION of POLAR WOBBLE, which has formed PARALLEL CANYONS (GRIDS in the larger sense) preceding the ANALEMMA FORMATION- shown by the REVERSAL of CONVEX ARCS as indicated by the river valleys CURVATURE:
Looking ahead- with passage of TIME- there is a DRASTIC RE-ORIENTATION of the Colorado River PATH, as it makes a REVERSAL after the TRIPLE JUNCTION of the Little Colorado; this is the start of a NEW ANALEMMA DEVELOPMENT (new block of crust, as defined by the TRAPEZOIDAL PERIMETER- whenever 2 rivers JUNCTION):
A "WHITE LINE" is placed where there is a ARC CONVEXITY REVERSAL (a linear separating CURVILINEARS on either side)- indicating that not only is there a NEW ANALEMMA and separate BLOCK of CRUST, but that a FIGURE 8 DEVELOPMENT can be expected with TIDAL PROGRESSION to the WEST (note the trapezoidal PARIA PLATEAU and its separation from the LAKE POWELL PARALLEL CANYONS):
A SIMILAR TRAPEZOIDAL ARRANGEMENT can be found from the pattern of the HORSESHOE BEND- near the town of Page, AZ, which can be seen at an overlook just south of the city area. This is ROTATED 90 DEGREES, so that one can see the UPLIFT east of the river bend. This FEATURE is TRAVERSED upon floating downstream of the Lake Powell dam, and it is in the shape of an ALMOST FIGURE 8- almost eroding the separating canyon walls:

I have RE-ANALYZED this feature, to UNDERSCORE the COMPLEXITY. NOTE that there occur 12-13 ARCS SURROUNDING the ANALEMMA- indicating the number of FULL MOONS/YEAR, but requiring many REPETITIONS to scribe these on the CRUSTAL OUTCROPS:
I have taken 2 float trips to doocument these VARIOUS ANALEMMAS-FIGURE 8s, as to how they inscribe the CANYON WALLS with ARCUATE-CIRCULAR SHEAR FRACTURE ETCHINGS (some more Madeira, my dear?). The vertical ARCS are perpendicular to the horizontal or LATERAL ROTATIONS (CCW RISE at the surface is acccompanied by a CW ROTATION in the vertical walls).
There occur 2 of these FEATURES along the path of the Colorado River, in the Grand Canyon; the westernmost is the smallest- indicating that it is the youngest. Using this clue, we can finally find the APPROPRIATE ANALEMMA, so that the GRAND CANYON PROGRESSION may be solved!
Although this ANALEMMA LOOKS CORRECT, it is NOT! The RATIO of the 2 features is not 1.6- which I find to be INVARIABLY EXHIBITED, when the proper analysis is made!
Analyzing a LARGER FEATURE, we find that the KEENEST CLUE is that for the LARGEST or oldest ARC, this is near 14 m.y.- which is the Basin and Range OLDEST EXTRUSION and fartherest west RHYOLITIC INTRUSION at the ID, NV, and OR border. At that time, the SIERRAS WEST SHOVE created EXTENSION-OPENINGS in the previously WEST-MOVING TIDES, and initiated EAST-MOVING EXTENSIONAL BASINS. The oldest occur immediately east of the Sierras, and the ones most recent near the GREAT BASIN NP, or Mt. Wheeler:
Above GOOGLE EARTH PHOTO exhibits the 2 parts of the 14 m.y. ANALEMMA, and the RATIO 1.6 is shown- as ACCURATELY as I can calculate (remembering that my normal errors are less than 5%). Notice that there is also a TRANSITION ZONE- which is always the case, for the zone between the 2 OPPOSITELY-ROTATING ENTITIES (AXIAL CCW- PRECESSIONAL CW). As I have found in all cases, there is an OLDER-WIDER DIAMETER- that of the Mogollon Rim, and it in turn is part of a YET-LARGER ONE, until reaching the EARTH LIMITS (40,000 km/pi DIAMETER, or 4096 m.y. LUNAR GRAVITATIONAL INITIATION).
Below is my PREVIOUS ANALYSIS of the development of the Colorado River INCISION through the Kiabab UPLIFT (UPHILL- called river capture by geologists- previous to finding that all this occurs with LATERAL GRAVITATIONAL ARCUATE SHEARING):
SUMMARY:
The Little Colorado is an older drainage than the present Colorado river, as measured by the wider-diameter Milankovitch shear cycle.
LC drained northward during Pliocene time (greater than 5 m.y.), and is some 1.5 m.y. older than the drainage along the Upper Cambrian (Bright Angel shale and underlying Tapeets sandstone TERRACE), which drained eastward in Pleistocene time. The old Colorado drainage was westward for the elevated portion, west of Phantom Ranch, at the time of the Eltanin Event, and this older river captured the Little Colorado at the 100 k.y. time of the reversal of the river (upon incising the Kaibab Plateau). The Kaibab Plateau was elevated during the 3 m.y. time interval before the Bright Angel Creek was formed, and was a divider between the Colorado sink to the SE, and the Kaibab uplift to the NW. All of these events are determined initially by an ellipse of rotation, which contains the sink to the SE and the rise to the NW, with a ratio of 1.6 of diameters of RISE/SINK.
ABOVE PHOTO FROM GOOGLE EARTH YIELDS CLUES TO THIS COMPLEX REGION. THERE ARE AT LEAST 2 REVERSALS OF THE ROTATIONS AT THE COLORADO RIVER. WHENEVER THIS OCCURS, THE DIVISOR TO THE RELATION: TIME INTERVAL= DIAMETER/NET TIDAL SHIFT, HAS TO BE SOLVED INDEPENDENTLY. OTHERWISE, THE DATE OF THE UPLIFT, AND THE WIDENING OF THE GAP ALLOWING THE RIVER TO REVERSE COURSE (BE CAPTURED) IS INACCURATE. PHOTO SHOWS THAT THE TIME INTERVAL IS NEAR 4 M.Y. AND THE EXPECTED NET TIDAL MOVEMENT CHANGES ACROSS THE 4 M.Y. INTERVAL. NOTE THAT WE HAVE NOT SOLVED THE OVERALL PUZZLE OF THE REVERSAL. BUT HAVE OBTAINED VITAL CLUES
Following the LARAMIDE REVOLUTION of 64 million year age, and the 40 m.y. event, vulcanism was initiated in the Taos-Rio Grande Valley (LLANO QUEMADO). The earliest extrusion was 41 m.y. and this shear progressed clockwise, CW, around the edge of the rising Colorado Plateau, CP. Simultaneously, CP rotated CCW, with drainage shown in the first great arcuate feature near Page, AZ:
BELOW, A PHOTO IS ENLARGED TO VIEW THE COLORADO RIVER NEAR THE KAIBAB UPLIFT AND JACOB LAKE. THIS ANALYSIS FINDS THAT THE NET TIDAL WEST SHOVE OF THE PLATEAU IS NOT REDUCED- BUT INCREASED: 30 VS 20 MM/YEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN ANOTHER ANALYSIS, AND IS RARE; OUT OF 100 CASE STUDIES, ONLY MARIANAS (GUAM ISLAND) HAVE HAD THIS MAGNITUDE TIDAL SHOVE. REMEMBER THAT THE MARIANAS TRENCH IS THE DEEPEST TRENCH, WITH A DEPTH OF NEAR 35,000 FEET. NOW, HERE WE HAVE AN UPLIFT OF THE KAIBAB WITH THE YOUNGEST AND MOST SHEAR CANYON DISPLAYING A SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCE:
CONTINUING, THE ARC ANALYSIS FOR AGE OF SHEAR FEATURES INDICATES THAT THE PORTION OF THE RIVER NEAR THE EDGE OF THE KAIBAB UPLIFT HAS "CHATTER" DUE TO COMPRESSION OF THE CRUST. THIS RESULTS IN INCREASED SPIN RATE OF THE EARTH, ENOUGH TO OFFSET SOME OF THE TIDAL FRICTION FROM THE MOON. THE END RESULT IS A NET LESSENING OF EARTH TIDES WITH COMPRESSION (OPPOSITE TO NET INCREASE OF EARTH TIDES WITH EXPANSION OF EXTENSION WHEN ELLIPTICAL ELONGATION OF THE EARTH'S REVOLUTION ABOUT THE SUN IS INCREASED):
NOTE: WHEN THE EARTH IS ATTRACTED BY GRAVITATION FORCES WITH ALIGNMENT OF THE LARGE PLANETS, IT ELONGATES ITS PATH IN AN ELLIPTICAL CONFIGURATION. THIS SLOWS ITS SPIN RATE, EXPANDS ITS DIAMETER (BULGING), AND CREATES GRABENS INTO WHICH THE WIDENING CRUSTS SINKS. THIS RESULTS IN AN INCREASE OF WEST EARTH TIDES, SINCE THE STEADY ATTRACTION FROM THE MOON BECOMES MORE IMPORTANT. CONVERSELY, WHEN THERE IS COMPRESSION- AS WITH SOME ASTEROIDS, PUSH DOWN BY THE ICE AGE, AND "SQUEEZING" UPWARD OF THE KAIBAB UPLIFT, THERE IS AN ACCELERATION OF THE EARTH'S SPIN RATE, MINIMIZATION OF LUNAR EARTH TIDES, AND NET TIDES GREATER THAN 20MM.YR.THE COLORADO RIVER MUST SURMOUNT THE KAIBAB PLATEAU, WHICH IS HIGHER IN ELEVATION AND HAS AN AGE GREATER THAN THE RIVER AT THAT TIME. THIS PLATEAU STARTED RISING IN THE MIOCENE, AND CONSTITUTED A BARRIER FOR THE RIVER; THE PATH AWAITED THE INCISION OF THE PLATEAU BY LATER SHEAR-ROTATIONS, IN THIS CASE LESS THAN THE 6 M.Y. SHOWN IN ITS TRACE TO THE NE. INDICATIONS ARE THAT IT DRAINED, ALONG WITH THE LITTLE COLORADO, TO THE NORTH TOWARDS THE SAN JUAN BASIN PREVIOUSLY (THERE WAS A CW SINK NEAR THE UT BORDER AT THE TIME). BELOW IS THE TRACE FOR THE UPLIFTING KAIBAB PLATEAU:
TURNS IN THE RIVER OCCUR WITH CONCOMITANT ROTATIONS ACCORDING TO THE "BINARY THEOREM":
I HAVE TAKEN SEGMENTS NEAR PHANTOM RANCH, WHERE THERE ARE SHEER CLIFFS, AND WHERE THE CANYON IS NARROWEST. THIS WILL BE THE PLACE WHERE STREAM CAPTURE (RIVER REVERSAL, OR CHANGE OF DIRECTION OF THE EARTH TIDES) OCCURRED; I CALL THIS RIVERSAL= AN INTRODUCED TERM WHICH SIMPLIFIES THE CLASSIFICATIONS. YOU CAN SEE THAT RIVERSAL OCCURRED IN THE LAST 100 K.YEARS. I DIDN'T EXPECT THIS SHORT TIME INTERVAL SINCE THE KAIBAB UPLIFT WAS INCISED AND ALLOWED THE COLORADO TO FLOW WESTWARD (JUST AS THE WESTERN PORTION HAS BEEN DOING FOR AT LEAST 2 M.Y.). IN REGIONS WHERE THIS REVERSE-COMPRESSION OCCURS, WE CANNOT RELY ON THE NORMAL EARTH TIDAL MAGNITUDE OF 10.24 OR 20.48 MM/YR. I HAVE ALREADY FOUND FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO, THAT CANYON FORMATION IS ACCOMPANIED BY A CHANGE IN THREE SURGES FROM 10.24 TO 20.48 KM/M.Y. IN THE NE CORNER OF THE MOVEMENT.
BELOW IS THE LARGER PICTURE OF THE REGION NEAR THE PHANTOM RANCH. THE LINEARITY OF BRIGHT ANGEL CREEK TELLS ME THAT THIS IS THE CENTER OF THE UPLIFT (WEST LUNAR TIDES TO THE WEST, EAST SOLAR TIDES TO THE EAST)
ABOVE GOOGLE EARTH PHOTO OF THE ENTIRE REGION CONTAINING THE KAIBAB PLATEAU INDICATES THAT THE PLATEAU HAS ROTATED 25.4 DEGREES IN THE 2 M.Y. TIME INTERVAL SINCE THE ELTANIN EVENT (6% ERROR IN TIME OR DISTANCE). I HAVE FOUND THIS ROTATION OF REGIONS AT OLYMPIC MOUNTAINS, WA (45 D/4 M.Y.), CENTRAL AMERICA, AND AT BERMUDA ISLAND- OFFSHORE THE APPALACHIAN OROGENY TWIST OF 45 DEGREES. WE WILL PUT THIS IN A FRAMEWORK FOR GENERAL ROTATION OF THE CRUST AT MAJOR INTERVALS OF THE BINARY THEOREM. A WARNING IN ADVANCE: THE CHANGE OCCURS AT DECREASINGLY SMALLER INTERVALS FOR EACH MAJOR ROTATION OF THE CRUST, BY RATIOS OF 4:1 FROM PRECEDING ROTATION AGES!
MEASURING THE SEPARATION OF GRID (SPACING) NEAR THE COLORADO RIVER, SO THAT AN ANALYSES OF TIME OF CANYON FORMATION MAY BE MORE ACCURATELY CALCULATED, WE FIND THAT A SIDE CANYON TO THE MAIN RIVER IS DEVELOPED FROM A COMPETITION OF EARTH TIDES FACING WEST VERSUS THE SOLAR FACING EAST. THIS INTRODUCES AN ERROR IN THE CALCULATIONS FOR THE MAIN RIVER CANYON AGE OF INITIATION. WHEN WE HAVE CALCULATED 70 K.Y. FOR THE TIME SINCE INITIAL FRACTURING OF THE KAIBAB UPLIFT TO EMERGENCE OF THE RIVER THROUGH THE ENLARGED FAULT-FRACTURE, IT IS NOW NEAR 100 K.Y. AND MORE ACCEPTABLE. NOTICE THE VARIATION OF GRID SPACING FROM EAST TO WEST, AND FROM E-W TO N-S:
THIS COMPLEXITY CAN BE RESOLVED! WE ARE DEALING WITH A MAJOR DEPARTURE FROM THE EARTH'S ORBIT, WHERE THE EARTH HAS ELLIPTICALLY DEPARTED FROM ITS USUAL ALMOST CIRCULAR ORBIT AROUND THE SUN.
THE ELTANIN EVENT, PREPARATORY TO THE ICE AGE, HAS INTERFERED WITH THE ROTATION AND ORBIT OF THE EARTH, SO THAT WHAT SEEMS LIKE AN ENIGMA- THE 5 M.Y. KAIBAB PLATEAU- IS REALLY A SLOWING OF THE EARTH'S ORBIT. A 5 M.Y. RISE IS ENCLOSED WITHIN THE 2 M.Y. NET TIME OF THE ICE AGE. NOTICE THAT AN ELLIPSE OF AT LEAST TWO MAJOR RISES AND SINKS HAS DIVERTED THE COLORADO RIVER FROM ITS PREVIOUS PATH ALONG THE LITTLE COLORADO DRAINAGE TOWARD THE SAN JUAN BASIN TO THE MODERN DRAINAGE WESTWARD TO CALIFORNIA.
THIS IS PARTLY RESOLVED BY THE SUBSEQUENT DIVERSIONS OF THE DRAINAGE IN SEVERAL CIRCULAR PATTERNS. ALTHOUGH THE TOTAL TIME IS GREATER THAN THE AGE OF 2.15 M.Y., THE EARTH HAS REGAINED ITS WARMER ORBIT AROUND THE SUN- HAVING "KILLED TIME" OF ALMOST 3 M .Y. of tidal disruption IN THE PROCESS.
COMPARE THE GRAND CANYON ELLIPSE (CONSISTING OF A RISE TO NORTHWEST, AND A SINK TO THE SE) WITH THE ALEUTIAN SPIRAL- WHICH RESULTED FROM THE WOBBLE OF THE POLES DURING THE INTERVAL OF 80 M.Y TO THE ICE AGE. THIS IS A DRASTIC CHANGE OF SCALE, BUT REPEATED BY GRAVITATIONAL RE-ARRANGEMENTS MANY TIMES FOR THE CRUST OF THE EARTH:
The MAXIMUM AGE shown in the ArcsSURROUNDING the Grand Canyon is found from the LARGEST DIAMETER- this is at most 25 m.y.- the time of the BASIN AND RANGR INCIPIENCE (Also the beginning of the ID, NV, OR border INTRUSIONS- becoming prominent at 16 m.y. ago):
NEIGHBORING VULCANISM shows how even EXTRUSIONS are ARCUATE, for TIME INTERVAL CALCULATIONS:
The HURRICANE FAULT has some REPEATING FEATURES, which bear further investigation. These occur similarly for the QUAIL-VIRGIN ANTICLINE, where there is a REGULARITY of AXIAL-PRECESSIONAL CYCLES occuring with an obvious uplift: MT. TRUMBULL VUCANISM, in the above case.
ABOVE Hurricane FAULT, Hf, access is located at the Honeymoon Trail, UT AZ border- accessed by rough road- and the analemma is accompanied by a shear canyon- developing a ROAD FRACTURE at the top:
This CCW RISING FEATURE has transported gypsum from the lower levels to the top- along the roadway!

The VERTICAL SHEER WALLS have been formed in 1000 years- according to calculations-measurements made in Honeymoon Canyon:
The VERTICAL SHEAR CURVILINEAR can be seen in the center; NOTICE that it DIVIDES LEFT CCW ARCS from RIGHT CW ARCS. This is typical of FAST-MOVING SHEAR CIRCLES, where the EROSION CANNOT OFFSET the RAPID MOVEMENT (even though the outcrop is weakened by the shear and GOUGE!):
Once GEOLOGISTS embrace this CONCEPT of SHALLOW ROTATION- rock SHEARING, they will be able to SOLVE the many MYSTERIES they have had to ignore (bombarding the public with NOMENCLATURE- as a method of CLASSIFICATION- whenever there is a question).
Looking at a MINOR JUNCTION at the confluence of Kanab Creekand Pipe Springs wash, the MILANKOVITCH CYCLES can be seen and measured. There, the AXIAL (41 m.y.), PRECESSIONAL (25 apprx.), and the ELLIPTICAL (100) CAN BE VIEWED CLOSEUP- hikeable, in flat and level country:
This DEVELOPMENT is continuing, and the AGE is equal to the TIME INTERVAL; notice that the intervals are greater than MILANKOVITCH'S, and a SCALING FACTOR may be calculated for comparison. It is 1.196, and shows that the precessional (variable, from 23 to 25 k.y.) is reasonable at 24.3 k.y. The TRAPEZOIDAL FORMATION (tit) arises to the north, and has formed within one cycle.
This may be explored at the NEARBY KANAB-JOHNSON WASH, where the age is insufficient to develop an ANALEMMA or trapezoid:
This will be MAGNIFIED after hiking to the confluence feature.
